Responding to the critic in the moment

A brief in-the-moment practice for when the critic speaks up.

  1. 1Pause and notice“There's the critic again.”
  2. 2Name its intention“It's probably trying to protect me from something.”
  3. 3Offer a brief, honest response“Thank you for trying to help. I've got this from here.”
  4. 4Return attention to the present task or momentYou don't need to resolve the critic fully to move on.

You might explore these in your own words — there is no right answer, and stopping partway is completely fine.
